Vologda lace is a unique art, which is only made in one Russian region. It is still not known for certain whether it is an indigenous Russian phenomenon or a mixed one. Perhaps Russian craftsmen have creatively reinterpreted the technology of masters of Italy and Flanders.

Buy Vologda Lace

Originally articles of Vologda lace were produced for the decoration of dresses and lingerie. Clothes were imported from Europe for the aristocracy.

Gradually, the ability to weave such patterns passed into the popular environment and began to meet the needs of the population. This is how the national art school and one of the largest networks of workshops in the world were born.

In the 1930s, all the workshops were merged into one production facility. It began to produce the following types of products:

removable parts of women's clothing;
kitchen napkins and tablecloths;
scarves, ties, and gloves;

The product of the folk craft has retained its characteristic appearance in the 20th century. The image is made of continuous thread on the background of the patterned grid.

The original material of execution was linen. But today you can find in stores Vologda lace using metallic (silver and gold) or silk threads.

They are produced by the Snezhinka Production Association.
